Transformative Changes is entering a new phase of organizational growth and strategic development.
Over the past several years, Black and Brown communities have continued to navigate the impacts of systemic inequities, racialized harm, economic instability, community violence, burnout, social isolation, and barriers to opportunity.
At the same time, our communities possess deep wisdom, cultural knowledge, leadership traditions, creativity, resilience, and community care practices that have sustained generations. This is a call to return to those practices and ways of being.
Rather than creating another standalone initiative, this gathering brings together leaders already advancing this work to collectively imagining what it would take to build movements capable of sustaining healed and whole people across generations.
The Healing Justice Ecosystem Co-Design Gathering will bring together a small group of trusted Anchors, Builders, and Multipliers, including healing justice practitioners, community leaders, organizers, educators, artists, caregivers, advocates, entrepreneurs, funders, businesses, movement organizations, and community members, to collectively explore what a stronger healing justice ecosystem could look like across our region.
This gathering builds upon the foundation established through The Rest In by asking a deeper question:
What would it take to build a regional healing justice ecosystem where care is not an exception, but part of the way our communities function?
Held during Self-Care Awareness Month, this Sabbath-inspired evening gathering invites participants to pause from the urgency of daily work, return to the survival, care, and liberation practices our ancestors have long used to sustain themselves, their communities, and freedom struggles, deepen relationships, and collectively imagine the partnerships, infrastructure, and conditions necessary for Black and Brown communities not only to survive, but to heal, belong, lead, build collective power, and shape the future.
This is an opportunity to practice radical imagination by co-designing a long-term strategy and healing justice ecosystem capable of supporting healed and whole people, multiplying sustainable movements, and shifting cultural, organizational, institutional, and governmental values around care, rest, healing, and sustainability.
We're looking for Anchors, Builders, and Multipliers who believe that our communities deserve more than survival. If you're interested in helping co-design a regional healing justice ecosystem rooted in care, belonging, sustainability, and collective power, we'd love to hear from you. Join us as we imagine what becomes possible when care is treated not as an individual responsibility, but as a shared community practice.
